SCROLL DOWN

Thanks to the marine biodiversity that characterize the Coral Triangle area, the underwater life of Bangka will amaze you.

The seascape here praise several different habitat that support rare species like pygmy seahorse, leaf fish, frog fish, white and black tip reef sharks, napoleon fish, nudibranchs and also dugongs.

With more than 30 world-class dive site Bangka's archipelago offers several spots, from richly colonized volcanic pinnacles to sandslopes, mangroves and walls.

VOLCANIC SAND:

These areas present black sandy bottom with few rocks completely covered by corals and colonized by a large number of different invertebrates and fish. It’s really similar to the environment fount in Lembeh straits.

VOLCANIC ROCKS:

Most of the time volcanic walls and pinnacles, completely covered by corals (in particular soft corals) are subjected to strong current in particular during the tide changes.

FRINGING REEF:

Dominated by hard coral, they grow on a originally sandy bottom and show a really high biodiversity.

MANGROVES:

This important habitat cover just the 2% of the island. Tidal currents, wave action, river flow, salinity gradients, affect sedimentation in various complex ways. Here is possible to find sponges, flatworms, snails and small fish that live around the roots. The seagrass in front of each mangrove forest are food for the dugongs.

CORAL EYE DIVING CENTER

Our two boats are fast and comfortable and can accomodate six/eight divers each. We can organize up to two morning dives and one afternoon dive according to weather conditions and number of guests. Every day from the jetty is also possible to organize a night dive.

We provide Alluminium cylinders 12lt, INT connections. Due to a limited choice of diving equipment, please let us know in advance if you need to rent it.

Diving is possible all year around but the best time is from April to September. Water normally around 28° to 29° with some cold upwellings (24°to 26°) specially in summer. The visibility is mostly very good (30mt) in summer, decreasing in winter by the action of waves and rain.

We prefer to focus on small groups to guarantee an highly individual service.

Our local guides have a wealth of experience in diving the waters around Bangka island.

To minimize our impact on the natural ecosystem, gloves are not allowed.

Jump off the jetty and explore Coral Eye house reef! Just below the surface you can find stunning coral gardens and fascinating location that wait to be explored with fins and mask.

Swim for approximately 1 km along the reef until Busa Bora village, or to the other side: behind a volcanic cape there are spectacular mangroves that disclose different marine environments with the tidal flow.

Want to explore more?

We can organize half or full day snorkeling trip with guide around Bangka Archipelago, taking you to hidden beach for a break and giving you the possibility to discover the nature around.

Coral Eye is nestled between a lush tropical jungle and a long white sandy beach shared with some local fishermen families.

There are no roads on the island, but it is possible to trek the jungle and visit few villagers in the fisherman village of Lihunu or walking along the beach and reach the small village of Busa Bora. Keep your eyes open to see typical animals of this area like parrots, tarsier, cuscus and monitor lizards.

We will be pleased to organize the most appropriate daily activities for nature lovers for a perfect and diverse holiday in North Sulawesi.

TANGKOKO NATIONAL RESERVE

This reserve retains exceptional stands of very old trees and a variety of animal life that is simply amazing. Tarsius (the smallest known primates), black tailless monkeys, maleo birds and kuskus (marsupials) are often spotted by the park guide.

TOMOHON AREA

In between two active volcanoes (Lokon and Mahawu), this area has a lot to offer: trekking to the top of the peaks will both challenge and reward with spectacular views the most energetic travelers; enjoying a Minhasa meal on the banks of Tondano lake or a coffee break on Linow lake will satisfy who is in the mood of taking it easy. There is the infamous market of Tomohon too, for the ones that have the guts!
