my happy place

my happy place

From my very first day at Coral Eye I knew it was special- a sea snake right from the shore, an unbelievable sunset, and stunning architecture. My jaw literally dropped when I arrived :)

Coral Eye has a real sense of community, because everyone eats together. The food is delicious. I had no idea what to expect for "Italian/Indonesian" food, but trust me- it's good. I've never eaten so well in my life. When you leave you will be dreaming of hearing 'Pronto' (the call for every meal). My favorite- pane, olio, sale.

The diving is incredible. Right from the jetty is one of the healthiest reefs I have ever seen. Nudibranchs, corals, and kinds of fish right from the shore! And all around Coral Eye is a beautiful jungle to explore. Not to mention nightly trips to Coco Loco.

My favorite part of Coral Eye was sitting on the jetty and looking at the stars. Some nights you have a perfect view of the Milky Way. This place puts you in touch with nature, far and near.

The staff makes you feel right at home. Marco, Marco 2, Ilaria, and Anna are all wonderful, welcoming people. They made my stay very enjoyable and go out of their way to make Coral Eye a special place for all visitors. And of course- Minu and Schifiboos are essential parts of the team.

Everything about this place is beautiful.

HOLIDAY in coral paradise

HOLIDAY in coral paradise

We spend there the last 4 nights of our three-weeks trip through Sulawesi and it was the perfect highlight! The location itself is extraordinairy, the rooms are just lovely and you feel the sense for aesthetics of the owners in every single detail. Marco and Ilaria make you feel welcomed from the very first second.
The food is delicous, the staff warm-hearted, and the reef directly in front of the beach is one of the most beautiful and healthy ones we have ever seen and certainly makes the stay in this resort outstanding.
We initially planned to stay just three nights, but changed our plans to stay 1,5 days longer in this paradise! We couldn't have asked for more.
Highly recommend staying in this awesome coral paradise!

Great Stay at chilled out island

Great Stay at chilled out island

We stayed 5 nights at Coral Eye, Bangka. Marco & Ilaria were super friendly hosts!
We are not dive certified so we didn't dive here but the snorkeling and chilling on the beach was fantastic. We heard only good things about the dive guides and sites from the other guests. The food at Coral Eye was delicious mix of Italian and Indonesian food, freshly cooked and plentiful. We enjoyed sharing meals with the other guests and getting to know everyone.

Our room was spacious with a little balcony to relax on and a great view of the beach.

We will be back for sure for the grand opening of CoCoLoCo and to see Schifobous with his new coat;)

Thanks for a great stay!

an incredible one week day at coral eye

an incredible one week day at coral eye

It has been a fantastic one week day at Coral Eye in Bangka. Diving was superb and my dive master, Ivan, has such a good pair of bionic eyes that he can really find all the small stuff for you to see, nudibranches, slugs, pigmy seahorses, mantis shrimp, moray eels, etc. This is the first time I really get to appreciate muck diving at Lembeh and really enjoy the dives very much.
Food at the resort was so good and there are plenty of food for you. Love the coffee first thing in the morning and the freshly baked bread served during dinner. The menu changes everyday and you will not get a repeat of the same food.
The house reef is also another place where you can snorkel and find all the rich marine life there. One of the snorkellers went to snorkel at 9 pm and he told us that he saw about 6-7 lobsters, one crocodile fish, lots of hound fish, etc etc.....at the house reef and he said that was the best snorkelling he ever had. We had 2 night dives at the jetty and also saw lots and lots of unusual creatures, spanish dancer, hermit crab, mantis shrimp, cuttlefish, etc
Every dive was so great and interesting and Ivan made sure that we get to dive to the maximum. Prior to diving in Bangka, I have never exceeded 60 mins during my dives at all, and this is the first time I have clocked 72 mins & 73 mins in both my muck diving and still have 50 bar of air when I surfaced up. Thanks to Ivan that I managed to do it.
The owners of the resort, Marco & Ilaria are also very accommodative to our needs and they made sure that we feel comfortable at all times.
Special thanks to Ivan, Marko & Ilaria for making our stay so pleasant & enjoyable. From: Mike & Annie
This is a good place to chill out and totally relaxed throughout your stay there.

Vero paradiso in terra su piccola isola incontaminata a nord di Sulawesi. Poche stanze, spiaggia e mare da cartolina, servizio e cibo da 5 stelle e immersioni indimenticabili.

OTTIMO

OTTIMO

ottima struttura, posto molto bello, staff eccellente

ottima struttura, posto molto bello, staff eccellente

rilassamento totale

rilassamento totale

You'll find excellent service here! The resort itself and the two italian couples which have been owning and leading the resort for many years really have style. And there is quite some italianità in the resort life - among other things it's the food: Yummy! Of course you'll have a mokka caffè after the meal. The unique architecture, the shared tables as well as the owners, staff and other guets will make your stay very social - but with enough privacy if you wish. There are scientists around and also volunteers for the CoralEye plastic project (responsible for the superclean beach).
The house reef is really good for snorcheling (diving there I haven't tested): healthy and very dense coral gardens with cuttlefish, octopus and quite some fish (felt in love with oxymonacanthus longirostris). I did six dives around Bangka Island - there are nice sites with small stuff like in nearby Lembeh (frogfish, pipefish, skeleton/candy/orang utan crabs, two kind of pygmys, ... ) plus beautiful and healthy corals. The guides have sharp eyes to spot the creatures for you. And there are some sites with plenty of fish - including sharks - and phantastic underwater topography, which make you very happy.
CoralEye is an outstanding place - highly recommended.
Grazie mille to the whole team.

magical three weeks

magical three weeks

I was exceedingly lucky to spend three weeks here as a volunteer working on their plastic recycling project.

The beach is gorgeous -- thanks to Anna, the scientists and the volunteers for keeping it plastic-free. I went to Raja Ampat right after Coral Eye, and I agree with someone else who said the reef at Coral Eye has coral that's just as beautiful, if not more beautiful than Raja. The coral here is gorgeous, living, and centuries-old corals (a true rarity nowadays). The diving trips are really fun -- the muck dive in the next beach over was SO COOL. Coral Eye is not the place for big animals like sharks or mantas, but the mini-stuff is so much fun, and can keep you occupied for weeks if you like that treasure-hunt stuff.

Everyone who works at Coral Eye is fun, funny and helpful. Lots of scientists and students come to Coral Eye to research, so you'll often have really interesting conversations with your fellow guests.

The tom yus kha is the tastiest cocktail in Indonesia :)

Keep in mind this is a very remote island. The internet is verrrrry slow. You can't walk around bar-hopping. There are no TVs. And thank goodness for all of that!

Scuba Divering & good talks on the calm Island Bangka

Scuba Divering & good talks on the calm Island Bangka

You are searching for beautiful corals and marine life? You like snorkeling or scuba diving? Welcome to Coral Eye on Bangka Islands. The Ressort is very clean. The Indonesian and Italian fusion kitchen 3 times a day plus afternoon snacks is great. You will directly feel home as the staff is super friendly and the main house offers sitting areas, hammocks and coaches where guest can relax and talk to each other. As Coral Eye supports the No-Trash Triangle Intiative (against waste and for a cleaner environment), you will also meet lots of scientist doing researches on marine life and microplastic.

relax, ambiente familiare, belle immersioni

relax, ambiente familiare, belle immersioni

Wonderfull team, location, diving! what else?

Wonderfull team, location, diving! what else?

Me and my family with 2 kids aged 8 and 10 we have been there for 10 days in August 2018; it was a wonderfull stay, team and food very good, location also very nice and well maintained; snorkeling from the jetty and around was fantastic; we went to snorkel also with boat in some very nice sports, always with local guides and having to dring and eat on the boat. Special thanks also to Marco for the diving organization, his patience with us beginners, and to the Whole team... we will return there !

just amazing!!

just amazing!!

We have been at Coral Eye in July 2018 and enjoyed every minute we were there! It is "at world's end", but it is so beautiful; the beach, the sea, the building itself with its open space in the middle where you have lunch and dinner together with the other guests and the hosts,....The food was great; a mix between Italian and local cuisine. The atmosphere at this place is so special!! It is hard to describe, just go there!

Our son enjoyed the diving; he loves all this macro stuff. Since the rest of us is not reallly interesting in macro diving we only did a snorkelling tour to the former pearl factory. It was incredible!! You can also hike to the next village which is very interesting.

The rooms are simple, but spacious and nice. Not all of the rooms have a bathroom which can be entered directly from the room. You have your own bathroom, but you have to cross the gallery. For us, it was no problem due to the relaxed and familary atmosphere.

We have not met the owner couple; we "only" met Anna and Marco who were so nice. Thanks a lot!

Lovely place with good diving experience and GREAT FOOD

Lovely place with good diving experience and GREAT FOOD

I love everything about this place. Well except the mosquitos.
Anyway, staff was really friendly, easy booking, fantastic healthy food (local and Italian fusion too!), great coffee (well, obviously), nice diving with good divemasters and being a coral research center, you got some knowledge as well.

I also love that this place integrates so seamlessly with the locals - right next to the resort are people's houses with some pigs running around. So cute and feels homey, if you know what I mean. It does not try to be so exclusive like some resorts closing their beaches. Definitely will come back here if only just to lounge at the many, many lounges and hammocks. And the food. Prontoooo!
